Nathan Richardson is returning as emcee. Nathan is an accomplished performance poet and published author of three collections of poetry. He is the resident teaching artist for the Artistic Verses Creative Writing Program sponsored by Newport News Public High Schools and the Peninsula Fine Arts Center (PFAC). For the past 6 years he has served as the Head Coach of the Hampton Roads Youth Poets, which is a division of the youth empowerment organization - Teens with a Purpose. .
Nathan's most recent awards include; the 2012 National Arts & Humanities Youth Program Award from The White House and the 2014 Poetry Slam Organizer of the Year by the National Poetry Association. He is currently involved with his latest creative project; The 2015 Frederick Douglass Speaking Tour. The tour brings Douglass to twelve venues throughout Virginia capturing completely the physical and spiritual essence of the great orator and abolitionist. The Boys Choir of Hampton Roads (formerly Park Place Boys Choir) was organized in September 1997 as a resource for the boys in Park Place area of Norfolk, to expand their positive image through singing. The main purpose of the choir is to develop in each young singer a self-respect and respect for others based upon clearly stated and solidly proven values, while striving for excellence in academics and cultural personal pursuits. The Children of Baha'i Chorus group has a membership of 10 children from the Virginia Beach area. The group is a combination of members of the Virginia Beach Baha'i Children's Class, the Virginia Beach Bahai Junior Youth Group, and other spirit-filled children from the local community. The common message that the Children of Baha'i present with their beautiful voices is that we are all like beautiful flowers in the eyes of God and the Earth is but one country. drumming ever since he watched the BabaLu king, Desi Arnaz, playing Ricky Ricardo on "I Love Lucy." He got his first pair of bongos at age 7.
Lopez has formed his own drum circle network via Virginia-World-Rhythms-Drum-Circle.com, a website that is unifying all the drum circles from Richmond to Virginia Beach. These Drum Circle groups are open to everyone by becoming a member. Lopez provides Facilitated Drum Circles for community based events, schools, nonprofit organizations, parties, hospitals, senior homes and for community building.
